Tips of automotive head lamp making

Usually head lamps mainly contain 5 components: Lamp housing, Lens, Bezels, Light guide, Reflectors, and other accessories.
For 1 set of functional head lamp including lighting test, we’ll recommend to make all components by CNC machining.

1. Lamp housing:
• Material: ABS
Surface finish: matt black painting
Split and glue

2. Lens:
• Material: PMMA
Surface finish: Mirror polish
Split and glue, but we need to specially pay attention to avoid gluing marks

3. Bezels:
There might be 3 different Bezels: partial textured bezel part, chromed bezel part, and glossy bezel part.

• 1) For partial textured bezel part:
Material: ABS
Surface finish: partial matt black or silver painting to achieve texture effect
Split and glue

• 2) For chromed bezel part
Material: ABS or PMMA
Surface finish: Mirror polish + chroming
Must make in one piece, without splitting

• 3) For glossy bezel part
Material: ABS
Surface finish: glossy black or white painting
Split and glue

4. Light guide: located in bezel part
• Material: PMMA
Surface finish: Mirror polish, and vapor polishing for textures
Must make in one piece, without splitting

5.Reflectors: vacuum metalizing or chroming finish
• 1)If vacuum metalizing finish:
Material: ABS
Surface finish: polish + vacuum metalizing
Can be splitted and glue

• 2)If chroming finish:
Material: ABS or PMMA
Surface finish: Mirror polish + Chroming
Must make in one piece, without splitting
